Time to Talk Day is about encouraging everyone to have a conversation about mental health, so that people with mental health problems feel less ashamed and isolated. Having conversations help break down stereotypes, improve relationships and take the stigma out of something that affects us all. Talking can make a huge difference to someone who is struggling, conversations about mental health have the power to change lives.
To support Time to Talk Day this year we held an exclusive event working in partnership with the Essex PA Network raising money for South East Essex and Central Mind for all the amazing work they do.
The evening was proudly hosted at The Warren Golf and Country Club. So not only was we in a beautiful location, but we had three inspirational speakers sharing their expert knowledge on mental health and wellbeing. Over 20 office professionals joined us on the evening giving themselves an opportunity to network with other PA’s, EA’s, Virtual Assistant’s and Administrators from around Essex and learn more about managing mental health.
The wonderful Claire Brooks kicked off the evening presenting on nutrition and wellbeing, giving us an insight on what affects our mental health, natural mood boosters, nutrition and the microbiome.
Then we had our very own Sadie Hopson speaking about staying mentally healthy in a modern world, the importance of switching off and also shared the powerful animation ‘Mobile World’ by Steve Cutts tackling smartphone and internet addiction.
Finally we had the brilliant Neil Jordan aka ‘Positive Neil’ on how to stay calm in the face of constant pressure and embracing negativity sharing with us the steps to open eyed meditation getting everyone involved, which created a very peaceful atmosphere in the room.
We were also joined by a few attendees from Mind, with the lovely Jess standing up and talking about the vital work of providing information, advice and support they offer for everyone experiencing a mental health problem.
Time to talk may be over for another year, but that doesn’t mean we should stop talking about mental health. This is something that should be worked on every single day, but Time To Talk is a great way to get people talking and gain more awareness of mental health. We all have mental health and can affect all of us yet people are still afraid to talk about it.
Let's keep the conversation going, breaking the taboos and stigmas on mental health by always supporting each other and speaking openly about mental health.
